Anita Drentlaw

Chair, Independent Community Bankers of Minnesota

Description

Anita Drentlaw is the fourth generation of her family to lead New Market Bank as CEO. She also chairs the Bloomington-based Independent Community Bankers of Minnesota (ICBM), the sole community bank-focused association in the state. A vocal advocate for community banks at state and national levels, she testified before the Legislature for the credit union work group study bill to bring awareness of potential negative tax impacts for Minnesota as tax-exempt credit unions are allowed to acquire banks. She spoke out against SBA Direct Lending, saying it would sideline community bank lenders and reduce small businesses’ access to credit. Drentlaw also serves on the state’s Department of Commerce Community Bank Advisory Board and mentors high school students through the Minnesota Center for Advanced Professional Studies.
