Driven to make high-quality health care more affordable and accessible for all, Abdirahman Abdi has been transforming organizational performance at Hennepin Health for nearly six years as the leader of finance, analytics, and provider contracting teams. He plays a critical role in the Minneapolis-based HMO’s work to build healthy, equitable communities. His accomplishments include reworking the Hennepin Health financial model to reinvest in root causes of health disparities; restructuring contracts to incentivize member satisfaction, quality, and cost efficiencies; and reimagining community relationships. During his tenure, Minneapolis-based Hennepin Health has increased membership by 29%, reduced its administrative expenses ratio from nearly 15% to 7%, and produced more than $148 million in net value-based payments and surplus.
