For 144 years, Allina Health has taken care of people from birth to end of life. Its network of 12 hospitals, 90 clinics, pharmacies, and specialty clinics set the bar high. Allina has a lengthy list of accolades from World’s Best Hospitals, U.S. News, and others for excellence in hospital care, cardiology, oncology, mother-baby care, rehabilitation, and more. Innovation underlies Allina’s three institutes, where expert clinicians consistently bring new therapies to the bedside. In March, California-based Sutter Health announced its acquisition of Allina, forming a $26 billion nonprofit health care system. Pending approval, the deal would close by the end of 2026.

Minnesota’s first and largest nonprofit health plan, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota has provided health care coverage since 1933. It’s the only health plan in the state with members in all 87 counties, serving people with a network that includes 98% of doctors and every Minnesota hospital. Insured customers also gain access to Blue Cross’ national network of health care providers. The Eagan company, with 3,000 employees, serves 3 million members with a mission to help people live their healthiest lives. In 2026, Forbes named the nonprofit to its list of America’s Best Midsize Employers based on results of independent, anonymous employee surveys.
