A Mitchell Hamline School of Law graduate, Beth Soholt was hired two decades ago to become executive director of Wind on the Wires; later renamed Clean Grid Alliance, it’s a coalition of organizations focused on reducing carbon and creating renewable energy. The alliance plays a dual role of crafting and implementing clean energy policies, which Soholt says sets it apart from other advocacy organizations that primarily focus on setting policies. Soholt’s work has included building political and technical support to get new transmission lines built. Looking forward, Soholt will leverage the St. Paul energy nonprofit’s credibility to expand wind and solar energy use.
