In 2023, DuNord Social Spirits turns 10 years old. “In many ways, as odd as it is for me to say it, DuNord is almost a startup again.” says founder Chris Montana. DuNord’s business model “fundamentally changed” after Covid hit in 2020, shifting from primarily a taproom destination to wholesale and distribution of their gin, vodka, whiskey, and liqueurs. Montana says DuNord will open its original taproom’s “spiritual successor,” which will also offer food, projected for 2023 or ’24, in the Coliseum building on East Lake Street in Minneapolis. The company plans to work in tandem with an incubator supporting BIPOC entrepreneurs. Located at the 7-Sigma building off Lake and 26th Avenue, aspiring entrepreneurs will learn culinary skills working at the new location.
