This past summer, David McMillan returned to his undergraduate alma mater, this time as its chancellor. The former Minnesota Power executive and former University of Minnesota regent will be using his economist expertise through 2024; he wants to prep UMD for “the next leader.” One thing he’ll be focusing on is long-term enrollment stability—the 2022 incoming class was down by more than 300 students from the year before. McMillan also hopes to make UMD’s culture “more welcoming and inclusive for all—students, staff, and faculty.”
