An experienced global diversity and inclusion executive, Sophia Khan has led DEI initiatives in several large Minnesota companies, including 3M, Wells Fargo, Medtronic, Thomson Reuters, and, most recently, Allianz Life, where she served as chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer. After two intense years of prioritizing company culture and inclusion, Khan believes 2023, for many large organizations, should be about making good on promises of the last few years. “I’m not satisfied with reporting percentages of representation and growth. I’m trying to bridge the gap between what we say and what we do.” DEI is not a box that companies can check, Khan says. “It’s a continuing journey in understanding the economics, changing the narrative, and making sure we create a sense of belonging.”
