Dakota County has a thriving business community, with employers such as Thomson Reuters, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Prime Therapeutics. Maureen Scallen Failor, the Eagan-based Dakota County chamber head since 2017, will be addressing the challenges that this success has wrought. This includes developing programs to meet current and future workforce needs, particularly in manufacturing, IT, and health care. Another initiative: better transit connectivity throughout the county. The chamber also is partnering with other organizations to encourage development of affordable housing for current and future employees of county businesses.
