As downtown Minneapolis boosters go, you probably won’t find a pair more committed than Sam and Dion Turner, longtime owners of the 24-hour Nicollet Diner. In 2020, they purchased the former Ichiban at the south end of Nicollet Mall to relocate the diner and added an entertainment venue, Roxy’s Cabaret, with a cocktail lounge and outdoor patios. “We like to say we turned a two-story pagoda into a three-story Airstream trailer,” jokes Dion Turner. In 2023 they intend to turn the diner’s former digs at 1428 Nicollet into a pizza business known as, uh, Mother Clucker’s. Rock on, we say.
