Description

Bill Dallman has been in TV news for a good long while. He moved to CBS and Los Angeles after a stretch running FOX9 Twin Cities’ news operations, but he returned in 2021 to the Twin Cities to take what’s always been a plum job with low turnover—the hot seat at KARE-11. Dallman describes his job at the Golden Valley-based station as finding ways to compete in a fast-changing media environment with multiplatform solutions for customers—streaming, app, digital, over the air. He is concerned about the unauthorized use of local TV content by the tech industry, calling it an existential threat. And in a world bending toward streaming, he maintains “there’s still a healthy appetite for live news and live sports. I’m bullish on it.” 2023 is unpredictable at some level because KARE has a new owner, private equity company Standard General.
