A political science major, Amy Brendmoen worked in communications roles before joining the St. Paul City Council in 2012. She represents Ward 5, which encompasses north-central neighborhoods. A new police chief was named Nov. 1, and Brendmoen supports full funding for the Office of Neighborhood Safety. “We must deeply invest in communities in greatest need and at greatest risk of exposure to violence, with everything from attainable housing to after-school activities to pathway job training to diversion services,” she says. She wants to use discretionary dollars to develop manufacturing jobs, support BIPOC entrepreneurs, and fund shovel-ready construction projects.
