Celebrating our Centennial with Gratitude
By Russ Becker, President and CEO of APi Group
For 100 years, APi Group has helped protect the systems that keep buildings safe and has supported the infrastructure that communities rely on. But if you ask me what we’re really in the business of, I’ll tell you that we’re in the people business. Great leaders build great communities, and Building Great Leaders® is what we do.

APi started in 1926 as a small division of the Reuben L. Anderson-Cherne Mechanical Company in St. Paul, Minnesota. Today, APi Group is a market-leading business services family of companies providing fire and life safety, electronic security, elevator and escalator, and infrastructure services in 600+ locations across 20+ countries. A lot has changed over the last century, but one belief has not: people are the foundation of our business. Building Great Leaders is our purpose, it’s how we operate, and our biggest differentiator.
That purpose comes to life through one of our Foundational Beliefs: we invest in people as human beings. When we give teammates the tools, trust, and room to lead, they grow in their careers and strengthen the places where they live and work. I see that every day in teammates who coach youth sports, serve on local boards, mentor apprentices, volunteer with nonprofits, and show up when neighbors need a hand. The skills they build at APi through our leadership development program become the same skills they give back to their homes and communities.
Across our family of companies, teammates are giving back in ways that reflect local needs and honor the communities that have supported us for the past 100 years. Their efforts include supporting food security, contributing to disaster relief, advancing workforce development, and helping train the next generation of skilled tradespeople. We are also encouraging our people to volunteer, give, and lead in ways that will outlast this anniversary year.
As I look ahead, our focus stays where it has always been: on our people. One of our goals is to be the #1 people-first company while also being #1 in business performance in our industry. I believe you cannot do one without the other. When we build strong leaders, we build stronger teams, stronger customer relationships, and stronger communities. That is the work we are carrying into our next hundred years.
I want to thank each of our 32,000 team members for the work they do every day on our jobsites, for our customers, and in their communities. It matters, and I am grateful.
