Darryl Barnes, a former Mayo Clinic physician, co-founded Sonex Health in 2014. At the Eagan-based company, he developed a minimally invasive treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome and other common and debilitating conditions. As Sonex’s chief transformation officer and chief technology officer, he recently led the company’s AI transformation and created a way to scale physician training. Over the past year, he also has expanded the Sonex team by 50%, investing in local talent with diverse backgrounds. His ultimate goal is to reduce barriers to care, with Sonex noting that recent studies show Black patients have 39% lower odds of receiving surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome than their white peers.
