Libby Hlavka recently had an exceptional year of stewardship on the MPR board that also marked a pivotal moment for public media: She helped guide MPR through the loss of $6 million in annual federal funding. The St. Paul-based nonprofit weathered the crisis without having to cut core programming, thanks to a significant community response. Hlavka also supported emergency fundraising during large-scale immigration enforcement activity, as it heightened demand for local journalism. She is president of the St. Paul-based Driscoll Foundation and also serves as a board member for the Northwest Area Foundation, as a member of the Corporation for the Jerome Foundation, and on the executive council of the Minnesota Historical Society.
