Candice Amundson, a realtor with JPW Realty Pomerleau Team, noticed a barrier for people who need to escape domestic-abuse situations: Many shelters do not accept pets. Amundson sought a solution as a board member for the Blaine-based nonprofit Alexandra House, which provides shelter and resources for individuals experiencing domestic abuse—and as a survivor of domestic abuse herself. Amundson became instrumental in the vision for and the building of the nonprofit’s Linus’ Pet Haven, which opened in 2025 through Alexandra House’s coordination with national vendors.
