Ability Network is Expanding its Minneapolis HQ
Ability Network will expand its Minneapolis headquarters in order to provide more workspaces and dedicated areas for collaboration and engagement, the health IT company said Monday.
The expansion will add 17,000 square feet to the company’s existing 50,000-square-foot office space in Butler Square.
“Our vision is based on building a company where employees can do great
work,” said Mark A. Pulido, chairman and CEO of ABILITY Network, in a statement. “Our office environment and the culture we create within it helps ensure that we have the space and amenities to support our company’s physical growth and continue to drive a culture of delivering extraordinary results together.”
The revamped offices will accommodate about 100 new workspaces – though it’s not yet been stated how many jobs this translates to – and the new collaborative space, dubbed an Employee HUB. The HUB will include upgraded technology, a coffee bar, healthy snack dispensers, a game area, and customizable co-working areas. It’s aimed at providing employees with a spot to meet, connect and take a break.
The expansion comes less than a month after Ability Network was acquired by the Maryland-based health care technology company Inovalon Holdings Inc.  The $1.2 billion deal involved retaining Ability’s Minneapolis office.
Ability’s core service has been offering secure web and private networks for health care providers to process Medicare payments. Its system is connected to Medicaid and more than 400 commercial payers. Inovalon uses cloud-based platforms to collect and analyze large volumes of data for health care customers.
The sale and upcoming headquarters expansion are the latest steps in Ability Network’s growth in recent years, as it has increased its line of health information technology services in part through a series of acquisitions.
The sale to Inovalon is expected to close in April, and the Ability Network expansion project begins this month, with completion anticipated for later this year.
