Southdale Luxury Wing Opens Thursday
The barricades will come down overnight, and on Thursday, June 12, Southdale Center’s gleaming new luxury wing will open to the public. But most of the shopping is still a ways off—though fully leased to eight designer brands, David Yurman is the only store that will be open this week.

Max Mara, Moncler, and Burberry (a move from Mall of America) are expected to open by early July, a mall spokesperson said. Rounding out the luxury wing are: Gucci, Watches of Switzerland, and Tiffany & Co. and Louis Vuitton—two relocations from the Galleria, across the street. All are currently under construction and scheduled to open before the end of the year.

The new wing is visible from outside the Edina mall, with its own driveway and exterior entrance off 69th Street, facing Galleria. It features marble floors, high ceilings and skylights throughout. From inside, it connects to center court on the second level, near Kowalski’s.
Other new upscale retailers now open in center court include Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade New York, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Swarovski. In all, Southdale owner Simon Property Group has promised more than 50 new retailers as part of its $400 million upgrade to the nation’s first covered shopping mall. More than a dozen of those arrivals are new-to-market brands including Tecovas, Camp, and Mango.
The announcements keep coming—on Thursday, signs went up at Southdale for Vuori, the fast-growing activewear brand, which also has a store at Mall of America.
