Ahead of Holidays, Best Buy Rolls Out Free Next-Day Shipping
The holiday one-upmanship has begun.
On Tuesday, Best Buy Co. Inc. announced that it’s offering free next-day delivery on a range of items. To qualify for the deal, customers need to buy at least $35 worth of merchandise.
Best Buy official say the deal is good on “thousands of items,” but it excludes bigger products, like refrigerators and big-screen TVs. The company estimates that “99 percent” of customers are eligible for free next-day shipping. For those who aren’t eligible, Best Buy is offering free standard shipping on all items.
In a news release, company officials note that “no membership or minimum purchase” is required for the latter deal – a not-so-subtle shot across the bow at Amazon.
Best Buy is sweetening the deal in other ways, too: For a fee, the company is offering same-day delivery in 42 U.S. cities, including Minneapolis. Customers need to make the purchase by 3 p.m. to qualify for that offer. And, like Target and other retailers, Best Buy is offering curbside pickup, too.
It's not the first time the Richfield-based electronics retailer has amped up its offerings for the holidays. Last year, Best Buy offered free standard shipping on all online orders. And the company offers same-day pickup in stores around the year.
