Twins’ Makers Market Returns with Three New Businesses
The Minnesota Twins and U.S. Bank are bringing back a popular retail program at Target Field highlighting local small businesses owned by women and people of color.
Formally known as Creator’s Corner presented by U.S. Bank, the program provides funding, staffing, and free retail space for three small businesses.
The Twins first introduced the program in its current form last season.
This year’s participating businesses are:
- Barefoot Potter, a pottery business run by Minneapolis-based Lei Washington
- Fox Lake Furniture, a Trimont-based business selling furniture and home accessories made with locally sourced lumber
- United Goods, a Minneapolis-based company selling framed prints
The Twins and U.S. Bank selected the businesses from a wider applicant pool with help from a “diverse committee of local community and business leaders,” according to a press release issued Tuesday morning.
The three businesses are getting more than a space to sell their wares: The Twins are making a $10,000 investment in each. Delaware North, which manages concessions at Target Field, also will provide staffers for their booths. Matt Hodson, the Twins’ spokesman, said that last year’s vendors “noted an uptick in brand recognition and overall business as a result of their participation.”
“The Creator’s Corner is remaining the same in its structure and execution, but for good reason – we found it to be successful and well-received by vendors and fans alike in 2023,” Hodson said in an email.
Like last year, the 2024 vendors will sell their goods inside Target Field’s Gate 34 area, sometimes referred to as the park’s “front porch” due to the high level of traffic seen there. Beginning with the Twins’ Home Opener on April 4, they’ll be there for all 81 season home games and any postseason contests.
The team is already taking applications for the 2025 iteration of the program.
