Timberwolves, Lynx Tease New Premium Club
With their premium courtside club already sold out for the upcoming season, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx are opening another.
On Monday, the teams announced plans to open a new club for premium ticketholders in Target Center’s center lower level court sections. Known as the “Backcourt Club,” the new space will be exclusively dedicated to 500 premium ticketholders and feature an “upscale bar and lounge experience,” according to a news release issued this week.
The new club will supplement and not replace the Lexus Courtside Club, the teams’ current lounge for premium ticketholders. But the Lexus club has already sold out for the 2024-25 season. Timberwolves leaders said the new club will help meet “growing demand among Timberwolves fans for premium seating options.” Tickets will sell for up to nearly $360 a game.
The Backcourt Club is opening on a street-level space previously occupied by the Cargo Food Authority, which operated in the space from 2018 to 2021. A spokesperson for the Wolves and Lynx declined to share the cost of building out the new space, but noted that it was a “significant investment.” The new space doesn’t yet have a sponsor.
“After selling out our Lexus Courtside Club the past two seasons, our fans have voiced the desire for more premium inventory,” said Timberwolves and Lynx CEO Ethan Casson in the release. “Coupled with the on-court success of the team, we have an opportunity to continue to not only sell out Target Center night after night but provide a more elevated and enhanced fan experience.”
Fans will access the new club through a private entrance in the Target Center’s lobby. Team officials said the new space will have “luxe modern finished and lighting.” The space also will have a “grab-and-go” market for quick snacks, in addition to its own separate food and beverage program.
The club is slated to launch for the Timberwolves 2024-25 season, which begins in October.
