Like a sports team or employee work group, a corporate board cannot function effectively unless all members have a clear vision and mutual respect for their colleagues.
The five individuals that Twin Cities Business is recognizing for outstanding board service exemplify those qualities, but they also can be classified as servant leaders. They not only are making sound decisions that will benefit shareholders, but they also are committed to strategies that benefit their employees and the communities where they do business.
These board members know how to ask the tough questions that must be asked. But they do so in a manner that elicits detailed and thoughtful responses from management as well as promotes constructive dialogue among board members.
They’ve demonstrated a commitment to diverse leadership, taken their time to find the right CEOs, and leveraged their multifaceted professional experience to imagine bolder futures for the companies they serve.
We formally honored this year’s honorees at a ceremony at the Metropolitan Ballroom on Sept. 17.
