Minnesota’s legendary serial entrepreneurs and MN Cup founders are onto their next big thing. Birthing of Giants is a 28-year-old evolving curriculum the duo is bringing to Minnesota. It is a training ground for owners and founders, visionaries with companies with $5 million to $250 million in revenue looking to grow to the next level. “It helps leaders figure out a lot of things,” says Dan Mallin. “How to make your company salable, finding the right customers, understanding capital markets.” Scott Litman notes it’s also a mechanism for peer support, which not many busy founders get. Despite perceptions that Minnesota remains insufficiently fertile ground for funding, “we are in as good of a place as ever from an entrepreneurial perspective,” Mallin says. The pair believe the environment for early-stage capital has improved but note the state’s tax structure isn’t optimal for keeping founders around.
