It took several years to take root, but the Market at Malcolm Yards, between the University of Minnesota and Prospect Park in Minneapolis, was the food sensation of 2021. Much of the credit goes to its founder, Patricia Wall, who scoured the country for ideas, the food community for collaborators, and persevered through a pandemic that seemed to portend the end of communal gathering. Now she has a waiting list of food entrepreneurs hoping for a space to birth their great idea. For 2022, Wall says she foresees a plethora of events, both private and public, at the market, plus initial steps in converting the adjacent United Crushers grain elevator to commercial use.
