Felipe Athayde signed on as the chief executive of Minneapolis-based hair salon brand Regis in October 2020, a little over a year after the company announced formal plans to switch to an all-franchise model. Before then, Regis operated both corporate- and franchise-owned salons. Athayde—who’s held top jobs at Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, Burger King, and Tim Horton’s—evidently had the chops to help wrap up the transition. “We’ve completed the shift to a full asset-light franchisor model,” he says, “and continue to invest in best-in-class technology to automate our salons and manage the customer journey.”
