Sun Country, Pilots Reach Tentative Labor Agreement
Sun Country Airlines has reached an agreement with the union that represents its 250 pilots, according to the Star Tribune.
Â
Terms of the agreement were not available and would require approval by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA). If agreed to, they’d head off a potential showdown between labor, who authorized a strike earlier this year, and management, which had threatened to downsize or completely shut down the organization.
Â
Both ALPA and Sun Country declined to comment.
Â
Sun Country pilots are among the lowest paid in the industry. Keeping wages down has been a strategy for the carrier, as noted in TCB’s profile of Sun Country last year.
