Office Envy: TSR Injury Law
In a law office, comfort plays an important role. TSR Injury Law, working with Minneapolis design firm Studio BV, has opened a new Bloomington space proving this principle, just two miles from its previous Bloomington home.
“We had been at our space that, quite frankly, looked like four guys decorated it—you know, beige on beige on beige,” says Steve Terry, co-founder and managing partner of TSR. “Any time you’re in a house or an office or anything for 20-plus years, the scratches on the walls just kind of become part of the décor, and so we started over.”
Ashley Lundgren, senior interior designer at Minneapolis-based Studio BV, describes the office as feeling “nothing like your father’s law firm,” with warm tones, natural light, and soft textures. “The cases TSR works on are stressful,” she notes. “We wanted a space that matched TSR’s culture and made everybody feel welcome.”
Staff comfort was top of mind. “It was important to us to create a place where employees wanted to come in because there’s always this battle now of working from home,” says Terry. The office offers a wellness room where staff can find privacy and mental rejuvenation.
Two areas Terry spotlights are the entrance and conference rooms, which are accented with warm wood, a fireplace, and contrasting textures. “We need and want to convey success,” he says.
Other priorities included the lunchroom and staff workspaces. The old lunchroom couldn’t accommodate everyone, says Terry. “We wanted to have the lunchroom be large, really nice, and be able to get everybody in there.” Staff now have adjustable desks, new chairs, and bigger screens in their workspaces. And there’s the mock courtroom. There, attorneys can workshop arguments and statements before going to a real one.
The penthouse space overlooks Normandale Lake and is connected to surrounding businesses. “We’re in a community of buildings with restaurants and flower shops, so it’s just a nice vibe overall,” says Terry. “It’s nice to have a fresh reset.”
