Alternative to Surgery
 
As an alternative to surgery, American Medical Systems has created the GreenLight line of laser consoles for treatment of enlarged prostate glands. Removing prostate tissue surgically requires general anesthesia and can also cause long-term bleeding, incontinence, and erectile dysfunction. The outpatient GreenLight procedure uses a laser to vaporize the prostate tissue. Patients typically go home within hours of treatment and don’t experience side effects.
