2026 Great Workplaces in Minnesota
Great Workplaces in Minnesota honors some of the state’s most outstanding employers—workplaces that, data show, exemplify a people-first approach. The organizations on this list are notable not only for what they accomplish but for how they operate.
Behind the recognition is a rigorous evaluation process. Great Workplaces in Minnesota is a collaborative program of Best Companies Group, the Minnesota Society of Human Resource Management, and Twin Cities Business. Participation is open to all publicly and privately held for-profit, nonprofit, and government entities operating in the state. Eligible organizations must have at least 15 employees in Minnesota, an in-state facility, and at least one year of operations.
To identify this year’s honorees, Best Companies Group conducted a comprehensive evaluation of each participating organization. Employers completed an in-depth questionnaire detailing workplace policies, benefits, and practices, while employees were invited to submit candid feedback through a companywide survey. Based entirely on this data and feedback, the organizations with the strongest overall results earned designation as a Great Workplaces in Minnesota.
The survey findings revealed several defining characteristics shared by this year’s honorees. Chief among them was the importance of strong leadership. More than 96% of employees at recognized organizations said their managers treat them with respect and fairness and help them reach their full potential. They also expressed high confidence in senior leadership. Especially during times of market uncertainty, employees want effective leaders they can trust to steer the organization.
Equally important among employees was a strong sense of workplace camaraderie. More than 98% of workers at top-performing organizations reported that they like the people they work with. This sense of connection plays a powerful role in retention, as people are far more likely to stay at organizations where they feel connected to their colleagues.
At the same time, the data underscored a challenge faced by even the highest-performing organizations: Across all participating companies, perceptions of health care benefits consistently ranked among the lowest-scoring areas. With rising costs, more than 25% of employees reported dissatisfaction with the coverage provided by their employers.
Following the analysis of data and surveys, all honorees were ranked together in a single list, from No. 1 to No. 13. Participating organizations also had the option to purchase an Employee Feedback Report, which includes benchmarking data and survey responses, allowing them to compare their performance with the other recognized employers. The companies featured below are exemplary, setting a high standard for workplace excellence across the state and beyond. They show that when employees thrive, organizations and communities do too—and their transparency offers a model for others to learn from and aspire to.
