During the pandemic, Peter Bian and Linda Cao sold their family-recipe Chinese dumplings via Instagram, with people stopping by their condo garage for pickup on Saturdays. In 2022, the married couple moved the operation to a commercial kitchen, eventually adding hot food and ramping up production of frozen dumplings, which now can be found in local co-ops and groceries. Earlier this year, Saturday Dumpling Co. moved all operations to Northeast Minneapolis, adding a full-time fast-casual eatery. “Given what we’ve seen our friends go through, we didn’t want to jump too quickly into the restaurant space,” Bian says, “but we’re supported by the other parts of the business now so it’s less scary.”
