Michelle Young never dreamed of doing reality TV—a college basketball star, she had been working as an elementary teacher when she was cast on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. And while she didn’t find her happily-ever-after on either show, she did build name recognition. “People follow you for a reason,” she says. She’s collaborated with brands like Hippy Feet and Girl Well, “but ‘influencing’ felt so materialistic,” she says. “When the trend is over, what do you stand for?” Young ultimately left teaching, but her foundation still advocates for the profession, funding after-school athletics programs benefitting both teachers and students.
