A question that’s front of mind for Jill Anderson: “Who is the Children’s Theatre Co. for?” Assuming her role in July, with 20-plus years of national and international theater management, she hopes to integrate a multigenerational approach to the Minneapolis theater, expanding beyond its audience of 5- to 12-year-olds and their families. She also wants to find ways to engage audiences when they’re not in a seat, asking, “How can we make this organization a large part of people’s lives?” In a sector that’s still finding its footing after the pandemic, Anderson says finding a model that intersects with community needs more broadly will be essential.
