The GroundBreak Coalition was formed in 2022 to bring urgency, leadership, and new thinking to eliminating Minnesota’s long-standing racial disparities in wealth creation. The coalition is coordinating the efforts of financial institutions, nonprofits, philanthropy, and government to build wealth through homeownership, entrepreneurship, and business investment, and to develop affordable rental housing as a cornerstone of economic stability. More than 40 organizations across sectors are working together on the common goals of an inclusive, racially equitable, and carbon-neutral future, committing to leverage $5.3 billion in capital over the next 10 years. Jeff Aguy and Marcus Owens will help lead implementation, collaborating with dozens of coalition members to achieve GroundBreak’s ambitious transformational goals.
