Description

Janice Tam is working to digitize the fitting room with TrueToForm, a body scanning app that helps shoppers gauge whether a garment will actually fit. Launched in 2022, it gained traction with made-to-measure clothing businesses. The company’s latest innovation is a fit prediction tool aimed at the ready-to-wear market. “Our vision is to transform the way shoppers find clothes and reduce returns,” says Tam, who co-founded the company with her sister, Margaret, the company’s Silicon Valley-based chief technology officer. Mayo Clinic is responsible for the fashion tech startup making Minnesota its HQ, since Janice Tam’s husband is in medical residency at Mayo Clinic. “It’s much easier to navigate the startup community in Minnesota than in a place like New York,” she says. TrueToForm was a 2024 MN Cup division finalist and won a Launch Minnesota innovation grant.
