Erick DeLeon was part of the team that built MartinPatrick 3 into the powerhouse specialty retail destination it is today. He left to work for apparel brand Bogner, but retail called him back, and in May he opened the store of his dreams, Of the Lion, at 36th and Bryant in South Minneapolis. Doughnuts have long been the destination on this corner, which is also home to Bogart’s, but word is quickly getting out about DeLeon’s edgy assortment of lifestyle brands for men and women not sold elsewhere in town. The emphasis is on better activewear, so DeLeon started a running club. He plans to add a climbing club this winter and is already pondering an expansion.
