Drew Kinkade takes the notion of DIY down to the letter. He founded Flavor World, which began as a screenprinting business but now encompasses live events, a magazine, merchandise, and a recording studio, all in the name of building community through art. The business made strides this year after it got a Vibrant Storefronts grant. His small team renovated their Loring Park space, documenting the process on social media while organizing its annual Flavor Fest. “The long-term goal for us is to become a permanent arts institution in the Twin Cities that’s able to help and uplift the Twin Cities art scene as a whole,” he says.
