“I’ve been a cannabis connoisseur since I was 15,” says Clemon Dabney, grinning. He’s parlayed his precocity into a Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota in botany and plant biology, as well as a leading role in Minnesota’s nascent cannabis industry. After helping George Weiblen map the cannabis genome at the U, he was named director of medical cannabis for the Red Lake Nation. Now, as the chief science officer of Uniflora Holistics and CEO of Dr. Dabs, he uses his expertise to create gummies, maple and honey candies, infused chamomile tea, and even barbecue seasoning. “We’re the Willy Wonka of weed,” he says.
