Description

Extraordinary possibility—that’s what Gensler’s Bill Baxley sees in Minneapolis’ urban core. “How can it be more inclusive, and how can we use the power of design to pull us together?” he asks. That vision is shaping Gensler’s downtown efforts—from the reimagining of the Minneapolis Convention Center to the exploration of a new Timberwolves arena—while also guiding other local work, including the renovation of the Westonka Library in Mound, set to become Hennepin County’s first net-zero library. “People really want to be here,” Baxley says, citing insights from Gensler’s 2025 City Pulse survey of 65 cities, including Minneapolis. “We have to channel that energy and reinvent ourselves. We’ve done it before, and we can do it again.”
