“I have the incredible opportunity to use my medical training to effect significant change on a larger scale,” says Abbie Miller, who in 2023 was named chief medical officer for Minnetonka-based UnitedHealthcare’s commercial business in Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, and the Dakotas. Before taking on her current role, she served as a hospital physician for Fairview Health Services and an SVP at UnitedHealthcare-owned insurance unit PreferredOne. As CMO, Miller wants to help make care “more accessible, affordable, and evidence based.” Given her company’s huge presence in the health insurance market, she could have a detectable impact on the current high cost of care.
