This past February, a pair of designer Aaron Wittkamper’s biggest projects opened in Minneapolis’ North Loop within two weeks of each other. “What’s fun is how drastically different their aesthetics are,” he says of Italian restaurant Dario, where “it feels like you’re in a cool little neighborhood in Miami,” and jazz club Berlin, “which is this dark, moody forest with cocktails and candles.” Despite a stellar 2024, with three restaurant debuts this past fall, including Mothership Pizza Paradise at 50th and France, 2025 looks to be even bigger. “The details aren’t public yet, but I’m working on a contemporary warehouse space that will be transformed into a one-of-a-kind restaurant—in a noteworthy spot in Minneapolis,” he says. “It’s more exciting than anything I’ve ever done.”
