William Katsiyiannis has been a practicing clinical cardiac electrophysiologist for more than 20 years and Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute (AHMHI) president since 2013. Recently, he developed the Cardiovascular Care and Coordination Center, a 24/7 command center designed to deliver cardiovascular care throughout the Allina Health system and its regional partners, linking health care professionals to cardiologists via mobile app or direct phone line. The initiative has resulted in more than 8,000 curbside calls in 16 months, a 35% increase in direct admissions, a 49% reduction in time to accept direct admissions, and a 27% increase in cardiovascular procedures. Katsiyiannis also has overseen implementation of a mentoring program aimed at improving culture.
