At the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia), Virajita Singh leads efforts to integrate diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion (DEAI) into every facet of the institution’s operations. She is committed to expanding the museum’s engagement with historically underrepresented communities while evolving inclusive hiring practices and building an inclusive internal culture that empowers all staff members to contribute to the mission. Trained as an architect in India and the U.S., her work helps shape the future of museums, ensuring that they reflect and serve the diverse communities they engage. Before joining Mia, Singh served as associate vice provost for equity and diversity at the University of Minnesota, where she spearheaded DEAI initiatives across a large and diverse academic community.
