Tom Ahern has served on the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities (BGCTC) board for five years. During his tenure, he created and now chairs the Education Advisory Council, which works to bring together education technology business leaders to advise and support BGCTC as it strives to close the “opportunity gap.” Under Ahern, formerly the CEO of Capstone and now the founder and principal of Ahern Media, in Minneapolis, the council has led publishers Capstone, FlutterBee, and ABDO in donating 6,000 books for club libraries, granting all K-12 club members access to digital libraries, investing in online tools for planning, and more. BGCTC has also received national recognition under Ahern as a leader in youth development programming during out-of-school time.
