For more than a decade, Thom Gunderson has leveraged health care expertise to guide the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) through growth. As board chair, he can draw from more than 45 years of experience in his industry, most recently as a senior medtech research analyst for Piper Jaffray; he has helped MHIF overcome funding deficits and furthered its reputation as a leader in innovative cardiovascular research and education. In the past 18 months, Gunderson has led the foundation to achieve 100% philanthropic participation from the board. Meanwhile, MHIF has achieved prominence in cardiovascular research, and in the last few years the foundation has contributed to three FDA approvals while passing all FDA research audits.
