Suzanne Spellacy joined the executive team of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx as the first internal general counsel in 2021. Now entering her fourth season, she’s played a critical role in the legal success of the organization, while developing a deep knowledge of emerging legal issues for NBA/WNBA teams and the sports industry. Some of Spellacy’s recent key priorities include serving as a bridge between two ownership groups through a complex three-year ownership transaction for the Timberwolves and the Lynx. She also negotiated a first-of-its-kind partnership between the Timberwolves, Lynx, and iHeartMedia and a new merchandising agreement with sportswear retail partner Fanatics, which has resulted in 150% year-over-year growth in merchandise revenue for both teams.
