Steve Havig served from 1968-1969 in the Vietnam War as a military police officer. He gained the rank of sergeant E5 and was awarded two bronze stars. He is 30% disabled from Agent Orange. When Havig returned from war, he got into the wholesale men’s apparel business and worked in it for nearly 30 years. After several mergers in the clothing industry, Havig and his wife opened Isles Bun & Coffee in Uptown Minneapolis in 1993. Through bakery ownership, he established strong community partnerships, which became the foundation of Havig’s real estate business, Lakes Area Realty. The business has offices that span the Twin Cities metro, Greater Minnesota, and western Wisconsin, and it contributes to local organizations like Housing First Minnesota, which supports building transitional homes for veterans.
