Ruth Weber Kelley’s journey with Breakthrough T1D began in 2017, when her daughter, Lizzie, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (T1D). Soon after, Weber Kelley found her way to the Bloomington-based chapter of Breakthrough T1D, whose mission is to cure Type 1 diabetes and improve the lives of those affected by it. Weber Kelley joined the board in 2019 and became board president for the Minnesota and Dakotas chapter in 2024. She has helped lead the chapter through a major rebranding, with executive director Carolyn Sharratt crediting her people-first leadership style for deep community engagement and strong donor and volunteer networks. Weber Kelley is senior advisor for global programs at Cargill.
