Rick Kleven has been board chair at Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities (UGMTC) for almost three years, after he agreed to extend his term one year to further implement a strategic plan as well as the launch of a comprehensive campaign for renovating men’s facilities and adding new women’s facilities. UGMTC has offered services for people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and addiction in the Twin Cities for more than 120 years. During Kleven’s time as board chair, UGMTC has reviewed all board policies and approved them to ensure best processes. He has also played a lead role on the governance committee to update bylaws and the nonprofit’s articles of incorporation. Kleven is retired after serving as vice president of government affairs for Thrivent and, before that, as the company’s vice president of corporate law.
