A detail-oriented leader, Philip Young is responsible for the overall legal affairs of TruStone Financial Credit Union. He oversaw the legal and regulatory process for the multibillion-dollar merger of TruStone and Firefly credit unions. Approved in 2020, it was one of the largest mergers of its kind in the country; the merger also involved TruStone’s transition from a federal to a state charter. Today, the Plymouth credit union is worth $5.1 billion. Young recently implemented enterprise risk management to break from a siloed approach to facilitate the measurement and mitigation of risk across all business lines. He serves on the state charter subcommittee and the model bylaws working group for the Minnesota Credit Union Network and was recently appointed to the Minnesota Department of Commerce’s credit union advisory group.
