Inspired by her experiences as a young refugee from Laos, Pahoua Yang Hoffman chose to focus her career on mission-driven organizations and has worked to further equity and inclusion in local communities and within the health care industry. Yang Hoffman was instrumental in HealthPartners’ launch of a Community Advisory Council for Research and Evaluation. She helped develop the principles and processes for a diverse group that would regularly provide feedback on the health system’s community-inclusive efforts, and she advocated for council members to be paid. Under Yang Hoffman’s leadership, HealthPartners is working with Ramsey County and St. Paul to address barriers and identify opportunities to better support families and decrease their dependence on social services.
