In Mary Niedermeyer’s short time as CEO at CAPI, she has strengthened the nonprofit organization and been pivotal in ensuring stability after the departure of a leader who had been there for more than a decade. Niedermeyer has been a driving force in raising the needed $11.5 million to reach CAPI’s building expansion goal. To help refugees and immigrants reach social equality, Niedermeyer has realigned CAPI’s programs to its mission and brought in new programs to meet the needs of its participants. At the state level, she’s attended multiple hearings to advocate for the rights of immigrants and refugees at the Capitol. She also created the quarterly CAPI Community Connections group. This group provides space for nonprofits and resource groups, specifically in the Brooklyn Center/Brooklyn Park area, to share upcoming initiatives, programs, and resources and provide an opportunity to collaborate on community needs.
